Trails closed

Yes :O( The trail system is officially closed. Club members set out just before hunting season and did some trail maintenance that helped VAST (Vermont Association of Snow Travel) more than VASA but we feel that it is all good for everyone involved. Just before we shut the trails down the club was able to do some much needed trail maintenance including rebuilding a bridge that was pretty much non-existent and a safety hazard. We feel that working with VAST is the best way to keep the trails clear and open. Most members are involved in both associations. As trail coordinator I feel they go hand and hand. This season ran smoothly and we had very little problems/complaints. Thank you ! Unfortunately, at this time we are into hunting season and it is unsafe to ride with the hunters out there. After the hunting season weather permitted maybe (Big Maybe) we will open the trails for a short time before the snow flies. I can not make any promises but it could be a possibility. If there is snow on the ground at that time the trails will not be open at all. We have to have respect for VAST and the snowmobiling season. It is very important that they get a good base down and we do not disturb it.

Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching so let's give thanks for this season and many more to come. Happy holidays everyone and God Bless.

Memories

Here are a few pictures of past events and happenings with the club and on the club trails. If you didn't make the pictures, you didn't ride enough. That means show up at next year's events and we will make you a star on the TTR blog!

All in all we had a very good season. Met a lot of nice people and had very few complaints to speak of. Next season we will be back on the official VASA map.

As a club we did some reorganizing that worked very well. I would like to thank all the members in general for a great season. We accomplished a lot this season. We rebuilt two bridges (one this past weekend), graded, installed culverts, filled in washouts, etc. ! Thanks to everyone who helps with the trail maintenance. We appreciate your hard work.

LAST RIDE

Well, the season is slowly winding down. The club is hosting its last ride this Saturday (10-27-07) . Riding will commence at 10 a.m. The club will supply hot dogs , hamburgers and beverages. This is also a pot luck so if you can bring something please dooooo!!!!!! The club will be taking on a small project in the a.m. before the ride (i.e. a small bridge lol ). Anyone looking to help can meet at the field head around 8 a.m. The trails are in great shape and we encourage all to enjoy them before the big chill and old man winter comes marching into town. Hope to see a lot of familiar faces there.

Fall Riding

Vermont is the most amazing place this time of year. This year's foliage was not the brightest due to the lack of rain early in the season but there was still some beautiful views to be seen. It is so much fun to get off the beaten path and on the trails in the back woods.

There are no "scenic view" signs here. Everywhere you go is a scenic view. Get out and enjoy the color.

Thank You!

The Topsham Trailriders hosted their annual Landowner Appreciation Day on September 15th. We are very grateful to all the landowners who allow us to ride.
We would like to remind all riders to be responsible, tred lightly and have fun.

Poker Run

The poker run was a big success. We had over 25 club members and a few riders from other VASA clubs. It was a wet and chilly morning ride but warmed up in the afternoon. We had three separate poker runs throughout the day from beginner to expert (scary) terrain. We even had a group go through the "secret trail" (you know who you are). There was some rough terrain and some serious bushwacking. We managed to take a wrong turn and had to turn around on a steep uphill trail. It was no easy task for 9 units but we all managed to make it through.

Dave. our master chef, assisted by Irene, had a feast prepared for lunch and dinner. There was BBQ chicken, pasta salads, fresh corn, beverages and plenty of desserts. Thanks to all the club members who made this event possible.

Thanks to all our guests for showing up for some great riding.

Mt. Washington

We had a great turn out for this year's Mt. Washington ride. The weather was spectacular! We had over 200 riders on the mountain. This is the best trip of the year. If you can make it next year it is worth the trip. The Topsham Trail Riders ended the day in style with a tail gate party. Special thanks to the VASA organization for setting up this very unique ride. A good time was had by all. Happy Trails.
